Visual Refresh enabled for new base map tiles - any Scale Bar control
workarounds?

We enabled Visual Refresh to load the new base map tiles because the new
map style is greatly improved. The Neighborhood labels are not annoying.
And this will be the default style in the 3.14 release to Business
developers in November.
We are really disappointed by not being able to control the scale bar.
Although we can live with the fixed BOTTOM_RIGHT position, not being able
to control the style is a killer. Our clients are in the US. We need to
see feet. And the size of the bar is invisible.
Has anyone found a workaround?
I guess we can disable and create our own Map Style to deal with the ugly
labels, but...that seems like a lot of work for something that we've
always been able to control.
