About the Author

Carol McKibben lost her self-respect at the age of eight, when she became a fat kid due to a glandular disorder. Because she grew up with parents who did not know how to love each other, Carol lost sight of what love really meant, even when it was standing before her.

For years, Carol only saw herself as "the fat girl," even when she triumphed over her thyroid problems and grew into an attractive young woman. "It's so important to be good-looking," her mother told her, pleased at the transformation. "Always keep your looks; they'll take you far in this world."

Without role models to teach her what was really important in a relationship, Carol finds herself drawn to controlling, selfish men. She ends up marrying her college sweetheart, and her world spirals downward from there.

"MocoSpace is uniquely positioned for massive growth at the crossroads of powerful trends in mobile, gaming and social, as well as appealing to one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. population, the Hispanic market," said Fisher. "Softbank is excited to be an investor. MocoSpace has done a great job building an industry leading, profitable business, and we're excited to help the company broaden its entertainment offerings and innovate in the social games space."

"The chance to work with Ron and the Softbank team was a no-brainer for us. Ahern and Associates, Ltd, and Benesch Law Wrap Up Second Annual Transportation Conference, Receive Strong Accolades from Trucking and Logistics Industry Attendees

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) September 29, 2011

The distinguished team of Ahern and Associates, Ltd. and Benesch Law have successfully completed their second annual transportation conference to a packed house of attendees at the JW Marriott in Chicago. Those in attendance were not given a sales pitch as is expected at most no cost conferences, but were instead treated to an abundance of information on topics which effect the success and operation of transportation companiesmost notably impending CSA regulations.

For example, Tommy Hodges, Chairman of Titan Transportation and Ex Chairman of the American Trucking Association and Lane Kidd, President of the Arkansas Trucking Association both eloquently delivered impactful presentations on CSA 2010 and hours of service. The focus of their message zeroed in on the effect CSA is having on the transportation industry and the frustrations arising as a result of the fact that there is no training of the agents to enforce regulation.

Additionally, they are finding that most trucking companies cannot interpret the new CSA regulations and posed the question: How can you effectively regulate an industry when the agents who are paid to enforce regulations dont understand the law?

Kidd also indicated that 51% of 91,918 carriers already have a CSA infraction and of those carriers, approximately 2,700,000 are truck drivers employed by these firms. The most frequent CSA infractions included:

About the Book (Excerpts & Info)

For the wives of American oil industry workers living in the insulated opulence of Jakarta's Hotel Borobudur in 1976, the problems are many; and for the Indonesians who get to know them, the puzzlements are life-altering. In the hot house of culture shock, fears and conflicts can change lives in unexpected ways. Just as the shadow plays of Indonesia reveal new facets of old stories in each performance, so too the characters in this rich collection of interrelated stories discover new strengths and old weaknesses.

Praise for Ladies of the Borobudur

"Barbara Haines Howett writes with the passion and grace of one who has traveled deep into other realms of perception and brought back a precious gift -- her cycle of stories, Ladies of the Borobudur. It is a realm fraught with mystery and wonder. I was amazed and enthralled by the range of emotion."

-- Don Williams, Editor and publisher of New Millennium Writings

"A dazzling mosaic of interwoven stories that reflects a now-vanished world. The reader will remember these haunting women and their tales long after the lights go on and the shadows return to the dark."

-- Ruth Knafo Setton, author of The Road to Fez

"Howett explores and evokes astonishingly different points of view, and her post-colonial sense of irony is bracing."

-- DeWitt Henry, author of The Marriage of Anna Maye Potts

About the Author

Derek Beres is one of the leading figures in international music in America, working in numerous facets of the industry, from journalist and DJ to producer and presenter. He has written for dozens of magazines covering the traditional and digital realms of global music and has toured internationally, playing alongside some of the most important figures in the scene today. Well versed in international music, he is equally adamant about world cultures as well, devoting his life to the path of yoga, Eastern philosophies and world mythology.

As journalist, he has written for The Village Voice, Paste, Urb, Remix, XLR8R, Relix, Tricycle, Afropop and more, reviewing hundreds of CDs and conducting over 450 artist interviews. He spent 2.5 years as Managing Editor of Global Rhythm where he helped usher new strains of world electronica as well as paying homage to the traditional folk sounds of the planet. Global Beat Fusion: The History of the Future of Music, his book about the new mythology being created by global electronica, was published in 2005. He was recently the Content Creator for Musica Fresca, a national tour featuring Yerba Buena, Voltio, Akwid and Radio Mundial, sponsored by Yahoo! Telemundo.

Alongside writer Dax-Devlon Ross he created Outside the Box Publishing in 2005. They have four books ready for publication in early 2007, including Tangled Web: The Best Music Tour You Never Heard Of, about his photojournalistic voyage across America, and a book of essays co-written with Ross, A Staircase of Words. He is also working on Mysterious Distance, a novel, and Dance with the Warrior: Five Days to Manifest Your Destiny, based on shamanic healer Parashakti's cleansing program.

Beres is a Yoga Instructor, certified in the 200-hour teacher's certification program and Thai Yoga Massage, as well as the Budokon teacher's program with Kancho Cameron Shayne. His focus on integrating the various spiritual traditions and mythologies of the world shines through in his physical classes, as well as writing, in which he points out underlying themes within the global search for meaning in life. He currently teaches at Equinox Fitness, and is the yoga coach on raw food nutritionist David Wolfe's online community thebestdayever.com. In the realm of lecturing, Beres is a powerful and animated speaker; his many appearances include both editions of the progressive Mythic Journeys conference in Atlanta, as well as colleges such as Harvard and NYU.

A 1997 graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Religion, Beres entwines the mythological with the modern, showing how digital music is the first true global folk music as artists everywhere employ computers in their sonic creations. Global Beat Fusion blurs the lines between sacred and profane, highlighting today's ritual ceremonies within club context. As NPR stated, it "is not a book about music alone. It's about a growing worldwide community that's searching for shared experience without politics or corporate involvement. And it could fill many different slots on the bookshelf."

As DJ, Beres tours internationally with GlobeSonic Sound System alongside Fabian Alsultany (GlobeSonic Entertainment) and Bill Bragin (Director of Joe?s Pub at the Public Theater). His first DJ-mixed CD, Moving Stillness, was released on One World Music, and he is currenlty producing a remix album by Malian artist Vieux Farka Toure. The trio has produced countless shows, playing alongside the likes of Jamiroquai, Transglobal Underground, Ojos De Brujo, Zuco 103, Sidestepper, Brazilian Girls, The Gipsy Kings, Karsh Kale, Yerba Buena, Antibalas, Tabla Beat Science, Aterciopelados, Cheb I Sabbah and The New Deal at venues such as Berlin's House of World Culture, Paris' Ethnotech, Beirut's Strange Fruit Megaclub, Vancouver's Alibi Room, Recife Brasil's Abril Pro Rock festival, Amsterdam's Boom Bar and New York's Hammerstein Ballroom, Nokia Theatre, BAMCafe at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Celebrate Brooklyn, Makor, Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, Spirit, Global Rotation at Shine, Halcyon, Open Air and Galapagos. Beres was also a resident DJ of Kollektiv alongside Karsh Kale, and appeares regularly at the renowned Turntables on the Hudson parties.

In 2001 Beres co-founded EarthRise Arts alongside painter Craig Anthony Miller, and their Infusion parties are known to blur the lines between music venue, art gallery and theatrical performance. The pair recently relaunched their clothing line, focused on their unique I OM NY t-shirts. In the world of theater, his play Burning Trees was featured in 2002's Hip-Hop Theater Festival, produced by Danny Hoch.

Just as Beres is a syncretistic artist, his writing has been inspired by numerous sources. He is a fan of Joseph Campbell, Alan Watts, Mircea Eliade and Carl Jung, as well as lyrical writers such as Jose Saramago, John Steinbeck, Thomas Mann and Pablo Neruda. Global Beat Fusion further crosses lines between poetry and academia; pulling from a world of intellectual scholarship, Beres works his studies into daily life in an accessible, thorough and enjoyable manner. Knowing mind and body to be one and the same, his devoted yoga practice translates a wealth of experience onto page, approaching the physical and mental with meticulous care, discipline and fun.

Could Women Leaders Have an Advantage in the Future? New Research From ASPIRE Seems To Suggest So

(PRWEB) February 22, 2010

Once considered the domain of women and a hindrance to their effectiveness in the workplace, transformational behaviorssuch as long term vision, teamwork, empowerment and effective communicatingnow form essential leadership skills for the future of the global economy.

New research demonstrates that these behaviors, combined with new transformational traits such as ethical decision making and parenting skills, once labelled as feminine and soft, are now highly valued. According to a new measure, Leadership Intelligence, behavior like making that high risk/high reward deal in record time and never mind the consequences is out.

The ASPIRE Leadership Success Secrets 2010 Report: Tearing Up the Rule Book - A New Generation of Leaders for 2010 is based on a survey completed by more than 300 global leaders from 30 countries, including 60% at Director to CEO level. This annual survey, conducted jointly in 2010 by ASPIRE, a global executive coaching and leadership development company, and Customer Interpreter Ltd., strategic researchers, is now in its seventh year.

Who are the most admired leaders?

Women and ethnic minorities figure prominently on the surveys list of the top most admired leaders. Survey participants cited Barack Obama for his inspiring vision, courage, intelligence and integrity, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, for her courage and pragmatic approach, and a host of other political, business and sports leaders who they believe have a vision, stand for something and have made a difference.

What is now being rejected is untrustworthy leadership based on ego, greed or selfishness, and those who aim to divide and conquer. The surveys least admired leaders list is made up almost exclusively of white males, either bankers or politicians.

The old school style of many politicians and corporate CEOs is on the way out, says Dr. Samantha Collins, Founder and Director of ASPIRE. The time for a new rule book is here and women and men who operate with the highest integrity, think beyond short term profit, have a vision for the future and are not afraid to prioritize their family and personal life will not only survive but thrive in a new decade.

Do women make the best leaders?

Based on the research, the best leaders tend to be female and they tend to improve their skills with age and business or parenting experience. Those who work in the public sector, professional services or in the coaching/personal development industry also rated highest.

The research shows that those who are seen to have the most leadership ability take jobs to make a difference and have a challenge in a company they believe in. They are frustrated by hierarchies, work-life balance and lack of opportunities to do what they came for.

Despite significant advancements, women are still underrepresented in todays boardroomssomething that needs to be rectified, according to Dr. Collins. This is not just a female issue, this is a leadership issue that needs to be solved by both men and women, she says. The time is now. What will you or your company do to develop the new generation of leaders?

Everything you need to know about the next generation of leaders

The survey report reveals what respondents consider the top characteristics, approaches, behaviors, attributes and strengths are for the new generation of leaders. It also provides tips from respondents on everything from how to create strong teams: Build an inclusive environment where each has a role and responsibilities that contribute to the final outcome to how to be ethical in the workplace: Dont be afraid to say I wont subscribe to something.

Finally, the report gives a list of the biggest motivators for the new generation of leaders (eg, making a difference, belief in the companys direction, challenge, and company culture) as well as the biggest challenges men and women face in the workplace today and what makes them leave.

Outskirts Press Announces A Burning Heart After God, the Latest Highly-Anticipated Christianity - Discipleship Book from Jacksonville, FL, Author Percy D. Gorham

Denver, CO, and Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) July 19, 2007

Outskirts Press, Inc. has published A Burning Heart After God by Percy D. Gorham, which is the author's most recent book to date. The 6 x 9 paperback in the Christianity - Discipleship category is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble for a suggested retail price of $ 10.95. The webpage at http://www.outskirtspress.com/A_Burning_Heart_After_God was launched simultaneously with the book's publication.

About the Book (Excerpts & Info)

"I WOULD RATHER YOU BE JUST PLAIN COLD WHEN COMPARED TO BEING LUKEWARM ...EVEN SO, BECAUSE YOU ARE JUST LUKEWARM I WILL SPIT YOU OUT OF MY MOUTH!" Revelation 3:16

CAUTION: Reading this book may cause you to experience the tangible presence of God.

When a person draws close to God then God draws close to that person in a similar fashion. It is your own love for God that will cause you to recognize and truly experience His reciprocating principle in your life. Respectfully, your love for God should be a love that is understood primarily by Him and your love should not be anything less than extraordinary.

This book cuts through many formulas and religious hype. God wants to know everyone on a personal basis; however, free will causes many people to be preoccupied from God's greatest desire. Every person must toss their personal life and endeavors aside to fulfill God's desire if that person is to individually experience truly knowing God. This can be a very gruesome thing if a person has no love for God; however, it is easily done out of genuine love for God.

Finally, you will have the keys and the understanding to show the Holy God of creation how much you really love Him. This alone is the divine purpose of every individual born into this material existence and is a must read for every person seeking to truly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Deftly constructed at 88 pages, A Burning Heart After God is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the Christianity - Discipleship category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, A Burning Heart After God meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $ 10.95.

Outskirts Press Announces 'The Most Precious Path,' Latest Highly-anticipated Spirituality - Christian Book from Jacksonville, FL Author Percy D. Gorham

Denver, CO and Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) July 19, 2007

Outskirts Press, Inc. has published The Most Precious Path by Percy D. Gorham, which is the author's most recent book to date. The 6 x 9 Paperback in the Spirituality - Christian category is available worldwide on book retailer websites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble for a suggested retail price of $ 11.95. The webpage at http://www.outskirtspress.com/the_most_precious_path was launched simultaneously with the book's publication.

About the Book (Excerpts & Info)

YOUR OWN SOUL HANGS IN THE BALANCE

Caution: Reading this book may cause severe denial of self!

In a world of religious variety and various bibles one may find it difficult to decipher what is truth and what is flawed information. This book offers rich truth with a twist of simplicity anyone can understand. Follow along with the principles described in this book and encounter the Holy Spirit on an exciting journey towards our heavenly Father who truly loves His children.

We may meet lots of quality people. We do this time and time again. We may strive to conduct our life in a way we believe pleases God. Still, something is missing. Our personal world may be collapsing while we hold on for a roller coaster ride. We meet many people but may not be meeting God. This book helps you find the reason and puts you on the path that immediately causes you to gain God's favor.

The anointing comes from an anointed life, not the application of scripture alone. Scriptures are words and the scriptural Word of God/spoken Word of God makes a person clean. When a person is finally clean, God can then pour in "new wine" into the new vessel (a person/not a book). He does not pour new wine into old wineskins. Biblical/scriptural studies of how to receive the Holy Spirit give little information about the anointed vessel/heart who asked the Holy Spirit to enter the life of another believer. While a formulation of scriptural text is beneficial toward "study", it is the application and understanding of God's word in the life of a believer that can transmit the power of God directly into another person's life. While someone can have some understanding of God's word, their proper application of His word may be lacking. As you ponder if you should purchase from "this source" or "that source", the release of the Holy Spirit anointing upon your life hangs in the balance. If you are not enticed to seek God at this particular website, may you truly find your source from another anointed vessel who lives a life according to God's word (it's the life of the Spirit-filled person you want to understand). You know according to "the result" and should make a note of where the result came about. The gift of God is free to all but because something is "freely given" by God doesn't mean there is not a price to pay. For example, free food is not always appreciated because the quality may be very poor. Free cheese, free butter, free "ebook" may only be attractions that have another agenda in mind. If you want God you have to be willing to pay the price of "listening to that inner voice" you may have ingnored. Even free things have a cost and hopefully it is not diarrhea later on. Being "politically correct" gets thrown out of the window and if you want the "result" of having the Holy Spirit, my ebooks/books are always prime-cut choice. You should understand that Jesus preached only the Gospel of the kingdom of heaven or gospel of the kingdom of God and warned if anyone preaches any other gospel despite using scriptural simularities. People are easily tricked and get tired of being deceived. Their concept of Holy Spirit is "freely" watered down to some weak concept of acceptance only while they are still lacking the literal powerhouse the Holy Spirit truly is.

This particular book captures some key aspects on a journey that ushers the seeker into God's rich presence of joy and an anointing that is certainly capable of fulfilling the will of God for the reader. It guides the sincere seeker to finding God's presence in any circumstance or situation. Sit on the edge of your seat as you read the wholesome Word of God in a conversational flow you can understand, appreciate and derive the result of God's free gift. Do not allow anyone to "water down" your understanding of God's Holy Spirit.

Deftly constructed at 72 pages, The Most Precious Path is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the Spirituality - Christian category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, The Most Precious Path meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $ 11.95.
